To encourage, inspire and equip the young women of this generation with the awesome truth about real beauty, the power of a dream, and the strength that comes from healthy relationships.

In 2004, the girl's conference was started as a result of a visible need among the junior high and high school girls of Lawrence, Kansas. They were desperate for inspiration and positive role models. Straightupbeautiful has provided educational & motivational messages about dreams, beauty & relationships as well as special music & performances by talent in our own community. Each girl leaves feeling motivated, equipped and inspired to make an impact in her own world.

Let me ask you the same question I have asked many on the streets: “Who are the female role models today for young girls to emulate?” The number one answer to this polled question was- “There aren’t any.” Then many would say, after a long pause, “Well…if I had to say who young girls ARE emulating, I would say: Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Jessica Simpson.” Conclusion: High need for life-giving female role models!

Young women need healthy female role models to look up to! They desperately need to hear about what God has to say about them and the plan He has for their life. They need to know they are beautiful because of who they are and not because of what the culture dictates them to be. They need to know that true beauty does not come from outward appearances, but from the inner qualities of a woman’s heart and who she is in Christ.

We aim to be one of the voices speaking out about these seen needs by providing for the next generation of women positive female role models who are living a life worthy of emulating…Women who radiate a supernatural beauty that comes from the inner qualities of her heart and not from outward appearances…Women who are seeing their dreams come true…And women who are experiencing the beauty of living in healthy relationships.
